Auto probes the connected chip after Connect (FlightScnr board marker, then
flash manufacturer). Confirm before Install — USB IDs alone cannot tell the
boards apart.
T-Encoder: if the USB port does not appear, push the screen down
(BOOT) and hold, tap RESET, then click
Connect.
Waveshare: the USB-C plug orientation decides whether the ESP32-S3 or the
secondary ESP32 is connected. If Connect reports a plain
ESP32, unplug, flip the cable 180°, and Connect again.
Leave Board on Auto, or pick manually. USB IDs alone cannot
tell the boards apart; after Connect, Auto looks for a FlightScnr board marker
in flash, then suggests a board from the SPI flash manufacturer. Always confirm
before Install — flashing the wrong binary can succeed but leaves the display
and controls dead until reflashed correctly.
Choose Full install for a first-time install, after
Erase flash, or when replacing factory firmware (flashes at
0x0; clears Wi‑Fi and saved settings).
Update app only flashes the application at
0x10000 and 0x650000 (both OTA slots; needed
after an on-device OTA) and keeps settings when bootloader and partitions
already match.
